Leaving For Summer Camp On Sunday

This Sunday June 22nd at 12:00pm  – HIGH NOON – we’ll meet in the Lenoir Mall parking lot – on the old Belks side close to Mulberry Rec to load your gear in the trailer and then head off for the best week of your entire Summer!

If you have not submitted a complete Health Form – parts A, B, and C – this is your absolute last chance, so bring it with you or you cannot attend summer camp.

What to Bring

  • Complete Scout uniform
  • T-shirts
  • Shorts and/or long pants
  • Swim trunks
  • Sunscreen
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Hat
  • Sweatshirt or jacket
  • Extra shoes or boots
  • No Opened Toe Shoes are allowed
  • Book bag or Day Pack
  • Poncho or rain gear
  • Notebook and pen/pencil
  • Scout Handbook
  • Merit badge pamphlets
  • Watch (important)
  • Washcloth and Towels
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, tooth paste, etc. NO GLASS)
  • Flashlight w/batteries
  • Sleeping bag and blanket
  • Pocketknife
  • Wallet w/some form of ID
  • Money for camp store, craft supplies, etc
  • Canteen or Water bottle

What NOT to Bring

  • Firearms
  • Open Toed Sandals
  • Ammunition
  • Bows
  • Sheath knives
  • Pets – please share with your parents to ensure NO pets are brought during Family Night.
  • Generators
  • Radios
  • Air conditioners
  • Video games
  • MP3 players
  • Cell phones are discouraged and are prohibited in ALL program areas.

Each day follows the same schedule as shown below. During the week special events and meetings are scheduled that we will be informed about through daily announcements. Times and locations of the meetings and/or events will be given out at that time.

Summer Camp Special Events

When packing for Summer Camp, keep in mind some special items you’ll want to bring for special days at camp.

MONDAY – Castaway Day, dress like your favorite Castaway!

TUESDAY – Hawaiian Shirt Day, remember your Bermuda shorts!

WEDNESDAY – Order of the Arrow Day, OA members wear an OA T-shirt during the day and your OA sash to dinner!

THURSDAY – Camp T-Shirt Day, included in your registration, you’ll be given a 2014 Camp Shirt to wear that day!

FRIDAY – Troop T-Shirt Day, also included, you’ll receive it on Thursday night, show your Troop pride and wear it all day Friday!

Family Night at Camp Bud Schiele 2014

When:  Thursday, June 26th @ 4:30 p.m. – no family members will be allowed in camp before 4:30pm
Where:  Camp Bud Schiele, 668 Boy Scout Road, Rutherfordton, NC

What to bring:  Each Family is asked to bring a side dish, dessert and/or a drink to share.  Also bring your own chair!
What NOT to bring: Family pets

6:00 p.m. — Dinner
7:00 p.m. — Assembly
7:30 p.m. — Scoutmaster belly flop/Canoe race/Catapult challenge

When a Scout goes away to camp one thing he loves getting is mail from home. Make sure you send it in time to get there before we leave though.

2014 Health Forms Due on June 10th

If you’re going to Summer Camp with us in June, you must turn in a 2014 Health Form by Tuesday June 10th.  You need parts A, B, and C to attend Summer Camp.  Part C is the section that must be completed by a medical examiner.

Even if you’re not going to Summer Camp – we need a new part A and B from you so you can attend Troop outings.

Final Summer Camp Payment Due May 27th UPDATE

Final payment for Summer Camp must be turned in by on Tuesday May 27th.  We will be at the Lenoir Aquatic Center on that night instead of at Scout Hall since we will be swim testing.  So bring your payment to the pool!
